“Gundello Godaari”, the ambitious project of Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna, had been released all over the world yesterday. The director of the movie is Kumar Nagendra and the music was made by Ilayaraja. The lead roles of the flick were played by Tapsee, Aadi, Sundeep Kishan and Manchu Lakshmi. The review of the flick is:

Story:
“Godavari Kathalu” is the loose base of the film. It is a novel written by BVS Ramarao. The story starts in 1986, in a village near Rajahmundry. Malli (Aadi) and Chitra(Manchu Lakshmi) are a newly married couple. There comes a devastating flood, very hard to battle against. The new couple decides to share the darkest moments of their lives, losing hopes of survival.

Malli, an honest fisherman works hard to fulfill his ambition of buying a fishing boat of his own. He works under a merchant, Sambasivayya. Sambasivayya’s daughter, Sarala(Tapsee), falls in love with Malli. He tries his best to avoid her, being frightened of Sambasivayya. But finally, he succumbs. Sambasivayya comes to know of this thing and thus, his life shatters.

Chitra is a village girl, simple and beautiful. She grows admiring another villager, Suri(Sandeep Kishan). Being a poor village girl, she goes to work under Dhorababu(Ravi Babu), a womanizer. He constanly forces Chitra, to satisfy his goatish advances. A small misunderstanding with Suri leaves her all alone, shattering her life. Just when the things take a better turn, fate deals with her in a crucial way. She is in a position to choose between the life of her love, Suri and her demureness. What option does she choose??
Will the newly married couple survive?? They reveal all the secrets to each other. What happens after that?? This makes the rest of the story.

Positive points:

The screenplay and photography of the flick are simply superb, especially the flooding sequences. An air of “Truth and Reality” is felt around the characters and sequences. The team has to be appreciated for making this happen. The action of Aadi as the fisherman is very effective. He looks a bit rude and rough. The characterization of Tapsee is very perfect, as the temptress. Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna has satisfied the needs of the role. Sundeep Kishan is ok. Ravi Babu has done a good job as a womanizer.

The scenes between Aadi and Tapsee are very good and worth to be seen. The first half is very good. Some of the old Telugu songs can be heard in the background and in radios. It is too good to hear them.

Negative points:

The scenes that happen between Manchu Lakshmi and Sundeep Kishan could have been better. These scenes look very superficial and no linear characterization for the romantic part and the story gets slow at times. There are many gaps, unexplained in the story. What happened to Tapsee and Aadi after the episode of love??? How and why did Aadi and Lakshmi Manchu marry each other instead of their loves??? Who fixed their marriage?? The scenes of sentiment in the second half are a little dramatic and easy to predict.

Verdict:

It is a good effort of Manchu Lakshmi prasanna, a combination of strengths and weaknesses. The excellent cinematography stands to be the backbone of the film. The first half of the film is good. The film is worth watching once, owing to the good technical effort.
