Story:
It is the story running between an aspiring horror novelist Anu and a pizza delivery boy, Michael who are happily in love with each other. All is well in their life until some hell happens. Michael, one day while delivering pizza, comes across life changing events which give rise to unexpected, unpredictable twists, affecting his life. What happened on his delivery trips makes the rest of the story.
Analysis:
It is a smart and interesting thriller of recent times. The film is a lot exciting and a thrilling climax that makes people awestruck. The screenplay is seizing. The movie has a slow and wavy screenplay that may not attract initially, but keeps us excited ultimately. Karthik sets the terrain of the film quite early on, but makes everyone wait long before he introduces some excitement.
The film fluctuates between two classes, namely horror and thriller making the audiences either addicted to the scene or confused. The director succeeds in keeping the latency alive throughout until he chooses to break it. Actors need not be mentioned specially because if it has not been for the exciting and intelligent screenplay, their roles would not have made any sense. The second half has the film’s life and the climax is striking.
Performances:
The performance of Vijay Sethupathi is natural, good and realistic. He has done a good job in the role of Michael, as directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
Remya Nambeesan’s performance as the girl next door is okay. The love track between the lead pair does not look natural and her makeup could have been better
Final Verdict:
“Pizza” is a fascinating thriller, provided one does not mind nativity films of Tamil.
